My name is Ilze and I came here from green and singing country – Latvia, one of the Baltic States to be a volunteer in Wroclaw for one year. Reasons why I chose EVS and Poland are different, but the noblest aim was and still is – my own way to contribute to a better tomorrow. In fact I chose the cosiest way – country similar to Latvia (if we talk about weather), job – related to my studies at the university (in Mediateka). But! I was surprised and still I am. Wroclaw is so big! Almost as big as Latvia’s capital (and I’m from small town Cesis), people are more smiling and opened to unexpected conversations, weather – changeable and choppy! It’s almost three weeks I’m here, but still trying to get use to and put down roots. I won’t say its goes easy. However, I have a very good flatmates from Spain – smiling and helpful, sometimes I feel that we’re like a big family, but most important – I have something to learn from them!

About Mediateka. It’s located in Wroclaw city centre and it’s really beautiful and opened place for youngsters, engaged in various social and cultural (intercultural) projects, such as EVS.

My daily duties is help librarians put books and movies in shelves, secured books with magnetic strips and stamps, labelling them, making small exhibitions, preparing critical reviews about books, movies, events, helping in Mediateka’s cultural projects and events, and, of course, form my own projects, workshops and activities. I become already so adaptive, that I can help Mediateka’s users! At least I helped one… In polish… That’s all now. See you in Wroclaw’s parks and you’re always welcome to Mediateka! 🙂

Did you know that you can find Mediateka in Facebook? 🙂
